This FAQ provides answers to the questions prospective and current students ask most
frequently about admissions, programmes, tuition, online learning, examinations,
student support, and graduation.

What is BUCODeL?

The Babcock University Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning (BUCODeL) provides flexible, technology-enabled education that allows students to earn a recognized Babcock University degree while balancing work, business, family, and other personal commitments.

Learning is delivered through modern online technologies, making quality university education accessible from virtually anywhere.

BUCODeL combines the academic excellence of Babcock University with the flexibility of online learning.

Yes. BUCODeL operates under Babcock University and offers programmes approved in accordance with National Universities Commission (NUC) requirements.

Undergraduate Programmes

Applicants must possess at least five (5) O’Level credit passes (or equivalent) obtained in not more than two sittings.

Postgraduate Programmes

Applicants must possess:

  • A recognized bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • The required O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Any additional programme-specific admission requirements.

For BUCODeL undergraduate programmes, JAMB and post-UTME scores are currently not required. However, successful applicants are required to register with JAMB and select BUCODeL under approved ODeL institutions on the JAMB portal.Applicants should confirm current admission requirements before applying.

Applications are accepted throughout the year. However, BUCODeL admits students twice annually:

  • September Intake – First Semester
  • January Intake – Second Semester

Students admitted during the January intake complete their First Semester courses during the Summer Semester (typically May–July) to align with the University’s academic calendar.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early and regularly check the application portal for updates.

BUCODeL maintains a transparent fee structure.

Possible charges include:

  • Application fee (one-time, at onset)
  • Semester school fees (every semester)
  • Graduation fee (one-time, at the end)
  • Examination administrative fee (for approved external examination centres)

Yes. Tuition may be paid in two instalments, subject to University payment policies.

No.

All applications, payments, registration, onboarding, and student services are managed directly through official BUCODeL platforms.

BUCODeL does not authorize third-party agents or organizations to collect payments or process admissions on behalf of Babcock University.

Courses are delivered through the BUCODeL Learning Management System (LMS).

Students receive access to:

  • Recorded lectures
  • Course materials
  • PDF resources
  • Online learning activities

Each course is supported by an e-Tutor and Facilitator who coordinate virtual interactions during the semester.

Students may write examinations:
  1. At Babcock University campus at no additional examination centre cost.
  2. At approved external examination centres with applicable administrative fees.

  • Academic guidance
  • Technical support
  • Counselling services
Yes, but only for selected academic activities. Depending on your programme, you may be required to attend:
  • Final examinations
  • Orientation programmes
  • Revision sessions
  • Other approved academic activities
Students are notified well in advance whenever physical attendance is required.

All degrees are awarded by Babcock University.

Students who successfully complete a BUCODeL programme receive the same Babcock University degree certificate as students enrolled in the University’s conventional on-campus programmes.
